Abuja:According to News Agency of Nigeria, OPay has announced that its social impact programmes have reached more than 15,000 beneficiaries through various initiatives focused on education, innovation, and women’s economic empowerment.
The company detailed its efforts in leveraging technology, resources, and partnerships to enhance education, skills development, innovation, and economic inclusion in Nigeria. The OPay Scholars Programme, which includes the National Innovation Challenge and the OPay Futures programme, has directly benefited over 1,200 individuals. Additionally, OPay has committed to a 10-year scholarship fund worth N1.2 billion.
The National Innovation Challenge, implemented in collaboration with Google and the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, is designed to support young Nigerians by helping them develop ideas and skills to tackle real-world problems.
Moreover, OPay’s Play4aChild initiative has reached more than 14,000 children, providing educational materials and other resources to enhance their learning experiences. Through its Women Empowerment Programme, over 100 women have received training, capacity-building, and startup support to foster sustainable livelihoods and financial independence.
These initiatives are part of OPay’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which aims to create opportunities and offer ongoing support beyond one-time donations. The company emphasizes how technology-driven enterprises can contribute to education, youth development, and economic empowerment, working alongside government entities, educational institutions, and development organizations.
