Post: Otti and Adina Howard Among Honorees at 2026 Afro Awards


Los Angeles:Gov. Alex Otti of Abia, American singer Adina Howard, basketball star Russell Westbrook, and fashion designer Karl Kani are set to be honored at the 2026 Afro Awards in Los Angeles, California, scheduled for Saturday. The event celebrates individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to their communities, states, and countries.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the founder of the awards, Chief Taiwo Oduala, announced that Otti will receive the Transformative Leadership and Human Development Award. Oduala praised Otti for his achievements in leadership and human development, which have gained international recognition, highlighting the importance of effective public leadership globally.



The Afro Awards aim to celebrate excellence and achievements in various fields, including entertainment, fashion, sports, business, and public service. The event will feature a diverse array of influential personalities, reflecting its international reach.



Oduala emphasized the significance of responsible leadership focusing on humanitarian services, economic growth, and societal development. He stated that the awards continue to showcase the diverse contributions of individuals and institutions shaping Africa’s image and influence worldwide.



Past Nigerian recipients of the Afro Awards include business magnate Aliko Dangote, former President Goodluck Jonathan, and Air Peace CEO Dr. Allen Onyema. The awards recognize contributions to leadership, business, entertainment, culture, aviation, and community development.
