Post: Premier League Stars Shine on International Duty Across the Globe

London: All 20 Premier League clubs witnessed their players take the international stage with varying degrees of success, representing 59 different countries. From debut goals to unfortunate injuries, the international break brought a mix of fortunes for these top-flight stars.

According to BBC, Aston Villa’s Matty Cash was a standout performer for Poland, scoring a late equaliser against the Netherlands and another goal in a 3-1 win over Finland, although he was forced off with an injury that appears to be non-serious. Belgium’s Youri Tielemans was in fine form, netting twice in a 6-0 demolition of Liechtenstein, while Ezri Konsa scored his first goal for England in their 5-0 triumph over Serbia.

Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, despite not scoring for Ghana in their matches against Chad and Mali, received praise from coach Otto Addo for his efforts in attack. Meanwhile, Brentford’s Dango Ouattara shone brightly, scoring twice in Burkina Faso’s 6-0 rout of Djibouti, and Mikkel Damsgaard made his mark for Denmark with a goal in their 3-0 victory over Greece.

Brighton saw mixed fortunes with Yakuba Minteh scoring for Gambia, while Kaoru Mitoma was rested during Japan’s loss to the USA. Bart Verbruggen played a crucial role for the Netherlands, starting both qualifiers, and Carlos Baleba returned for Cameroon after missing their win over Eswatini.

Manchester City was both pleased and concerned as Erling Haaland showcased his scoring prowess with five goals in Norway’s 11-1 victory over Moldova. However, Egypt’s Omar Marmoush sustained a knee injury, ruling him out of the upcoming Manchester derby.

Manchester United’s summer signing Benjamin Sesko had a modest international outing with Slovenia, managing one shot on target over their two matches. Newcastle United’s Yoane Wissa impressed for DR Congo with two goals and an assist, despite a defeat to Senegal.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Pape Sarr secured a dramatic win for Senegal with an 87th-minute goal against DR Congo, and Djed Spence made history as the first Muslim to play for the senior England men’s team. West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta continued his scoring form for Brazil, while Tomas Soucek surprisingly saw minimal action for the Czech Republic.

These international performances have given Premier League clubs much to ponder as they return to domestic action, with some players riding high on success, while others may need time to recover from their international exploits.
