Lagos: QNET, a direct selling wellness company, has urged regulators and media outlets to differentiate between legitimate direct selling and fraudulent schemes, aiming to protect young Nigerians from scams. The call was made by Cherif Abdoulaye, Regional General Manager of QNET Sub-Saharan Africa, during a two-day QNET Product Expo in Lagos.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Abdoulaye emphasized that QNET promotes product-based entrepreneurship rather than recruitment schemes. He pointed out that the company’s name has been misused in various African countries to lure young people with deceptive promises. Abdoulaye advocated for Africa to adopt a regulatory framework similar to those in mature markets in Asia and Europe to protect ambitious youths from fraudulent activities.
Abdoulaye further elaborated on QNET’s FinGreen Programme, which has successfully trained over 1,500 young Nigerians in financial literacy, budgeting, and risk awareness. Additionally, Ayokunmi Solesi, General Manager of QNET Nigeri
a, highlighted the challenges posed by the confusion between direct selling and Ponzi or pyramid schemes. Solesi called on media partners to scrutinize products, understand certifications, and assist the public in distinguishing between fraudulent schemes and regulated direct selling.
QNET has taken measures to dismantle networks that misuse its brand and has retrained independent representatives on ethical practices. The company’s anti-scam campaign has been recognized at the International Business Awards. Solesi also advocated for mandatory product registration, codes of conduct, and penalties for misrepresentation to safeguard consumers.
Berni Gaksch, Regional Strategy and Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, discussed QNET’s wellness products, which address issues like rising pollution, digital overload, and stress, particularly among young Nigerians. He noted that Lagos faces increased traffic, industrial activity, and exposure to pollutants and electromagnetic fields compared to a decade ago. Gak
sch explained that QNET’s products, such as the BioDisc, Chi Pendant, and E-Guard X, utilize structured water, geometrical patterns, and resonance technologies to convert harmful radiation into beneficial energy, supporting the body’s natural balance. These products are backed by international certifications and ongoing research collaborations with institutions like Covenant University in Nigeria.
