Ibadan:The Rotary Club, Ibadan City Central, donated educational materials to Nawar-U-Deen (N.U.D.) Primary School, Ido, in Ibadan to support the students and contribute to community development.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the donation was part of the club’s ‘Back to School Project,’ commemorating Basic Education and Literacy Month. This initiative included 1,000 copies of 60-page exercise books, 120 pairs of socks, and 500 each of sharpeners, erasers, pens, pencils, and 55 school bags.
The club’s President, Mrs. Halimat Omotosho, stated that the donation is part of their community service activities aimed at supporting vulnerable members of society and promoting access to education. She emphasized that the donation would ease learning for the pupils and reduce financial burdens on their parents.
Omotosho highlighted the club’s dedication to humanity and community service, expressing happiness in fulfilling their promise to the students. She also noted the initiative’s goal to identify and support pupils in need with essential learning materials, adding that the students’ smiles made the effort worthwhile.
Mrs. Morenike Bello, a club member, encouraged the pupils to focus on their studies and avoid negative peer influences to achieve their goals and contribute meaningfully to society.
The Rotary District Governor, Mr. Olaniyi Okin, represented by Mrs. Folake Ladeinde, commended the club for positively impacting the pupils’ lives.
The school’s Headmistress, Mrs. Adesina Olajumoke, expressed gratitude, noting the gesture would significantly enhance the community’s educational standards. The Onido of Ido, Chief Muritala Gbolagade, represented by Chief Rahman Ajibade, also thanked the Rotary Club for assisting the pupils with their educational needs.
