Lagos:Trinity University in Yaba, Lagos, has expanded its facilities with the acquisition of a new annex featuring 850 bed spaces for students. This development comes alongside the recent approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for three additional academic programmes, raising the total number of accredited programmes at the university to 22.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the dedication ceremony for the new annex was led by Rev. Sam Aboyeji, General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Nigeria. Aboyeji emphasized the importance of dedicating life and property to God, suggesting that such dedication invites God’s presence, which can be transformative.
Pro-Chancellor Pastor Olatunji expressed gratitude for the acquisition, describing it as a testament to divine favor. He highlighted the university’s journey of faith and perseverance, which began over 30 years ago with the establishment of the Trinity Education Foundation.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Clement Kolawole noted that the new six-storey annex will help address previous accommodation challenges, enabling the university to admit more students who require residential facilities. The newly approved programmes€”Community Health, Public Health, and Environmental Health€”further strengthen the university’s academic offerings.
The annex includes student accommodation, laboratories, classrooms, a cafeteria, and a library, all aimed at enhancing the educational environment. Kolawole urged students to comply with university regulations and to fully engage in their academic responsibilities.
To ease the financial burden on families, the university allows parents to pay school fees in four instalments. Kolawole emphasized the importance of parents meeting their payment obligations, while the university remains committed to providing quality education and support to its students.
