Post: Senator Kingibe Calls for Credible 2027 Elections

Abuja:Senator Ireti Kingibe has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the 2027 General Elections accurately reflect the will of Nigerians.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory and is affiliated with the African Democratic Congress, made this appeal in a statement from her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Kennedy Mbele, in commemoration of Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.

In her statement, Kingibe congratulated Nigerians both domestically and abroad, expressing gratitude for the nation’s unity and sovereignty. She emphasized the significance of October 1 as a symbol of freedom and the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s founding fathers, urging that their efforts should not be in vain.

Kingibe highlighted the importance of reflecting on the state of democracy, asserting that independence is meaningless without the ability of citizens to choose their leaders in a peaceful, fair, and credible manner. She urged INEC to maintain its independence and conduct the upcoming elections in a way that truly represents the people’s choice.

The senator also called on security agencies, political leaders, the electorate, and youths to fulfill their constitutional roles during elections, reminding them that the world is observing Nigeria. She reiterated her commitment to quality representation and legislation that strengthens the electoral system, while advocating for the voiceless in the Senate.
