Post: Super Eagles Secure 3-3 Draw Against Russia in Friendly Match


Nizhny Novgorod:The Super Eagles of Nigeria held Russia to a thrilling 3-3 draw in an international friendly match on Tuesday.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, despite a depleted squad due to injuries and club restrictions, Nigeria managed to perform admirably against a strong Russian team.



The scoring was opened by Kelechi Iheanacho for Nigeria in the 11th minute, marking his 15th international goal. Russia responded with two goals before halftime, putting pressure on the Nigerian defense.



In the second half, Russia extended their lead to 3-1. This prompted Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle to make strategic substitutions, which improved Nigeria’s attacking play. Peter Edokpolor, a 19-year-old debutant, scored a stunning goal to bring the score to 3-2.



The equalizer came in the 94th minute when Akor Adams finished a counter-attack initiated by Emmanuel Fernandez’s header, ensuring the match ended in a draw.



The game featured nine Nigerian players making their debut as Coach Chelle continues to integrate new talents into the squad.
