Abuja: President Bola Tinubu on Sunday announced the successful rescue of 38 worshippers who were abducted from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the announcement was made via a post on the President’s verified X handle. The rescue was achieved after days of coordinated operations by security agencies, which President Tinubu personally supervised. The President had previously cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, to focus on the security situation at home.
President Tinubu also confirmed the recovery of 51 missing students from a Catholic school in Niger State. In his message, the President expressed gratitude for the efforts of the security forces, stating, “Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued. I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered.”
The President further assured the public that he is closely monitoring the security situation across the nation to ensure adequate safety for all citizens. He emphasized his commitment to national security by stating, “I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline. Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety – and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”
