Abuja: The Abuja Municipal Centennial Lions Club has attributed its successes over the years to unity and selfless service among members to humanity. Lion Charles Aneni, the Club Secretary, stated this during the club’s 10th Year Anniversary, installation of its 10th President, Lion Okonkwo Daniel, and Investiture Ceremony in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Aneni described the anniversary as a ‘landmark achievement.’ The event, which reflected on a decade of humanitarian work, was filled with a sense of accomplishment and excitement for the future. Aneni expressed his excitement and gratitude, noting that serving selflessly for 10 years is a remarkable achievement that continues to inspire them to give back to the community and put smiles on people’s faces.
The newly installed 10th President, Lion Daniel, outlined his vision for his tenure, emphasizing a focus on enhancing education. Daniel expressed his excitement at becoming the 10th president and shared his plans to boost education by providing school desks to the School for the Blind and other government schools in Abuja. He also mentioned initiatives to pay school fees for students whose families cannot afford them, aiming to secure a brighter future for children.
The outgoing President, Lion Geraldine Anthony, successfully completed her term with notable achievements, including the completion and handover of a 90-bed hostel to the FCT School for the Blind in Jabi. Anthony highlighted the satisfaction of seeing the facility being used for its intended purpose and urged Daniel to serve with a giving heart, maintaining and improving the club’s vision to serve humanity.
Lion Owulo Ochi, a long-standing member and former President of the club, encapsulated the club’s spirit by highlighting its transformation from a club into a family. He revealed the club’s next major project, a fundraising drive to renovate two schools in the Dutse and Durumi areas of the FCT, providing them with chairs and desks. Ochi emphasized the club’s commitment to unity and fellowship, expressing pride in the club’s contributions over the past decade.
