Post: Tinubu Seeks Deeper Bollor© Investment in Nigeria’s Creative Economy

Abuja: President Bola Tinubu on Friday sought increased investment by the Bollor© Group in Nigeria’s creative economy, particularly film, entertainment, and digital infrastructure.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Tinubu made the call during extensive talks with Mr. Vincent Bollor© of the Bollor© Group in Paris, as part of his working vacation. The Group’s media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice, and Universal Music, alongside investments in fiber-optic infrastructure and related sectors.

During the meeting, the Group confirmed plans to deepen the localization of its operations in Nigeria across film, entertainment, and fiber-optic infrastructure. This is contained in a statement issued by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Spokesperson, on Friday in Abuja.

Bollor© and his executives outlined new investments centered on Nigeria, which they described as the spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance. They linked Nigeria’s growing cultural influence to the global success of Nollywood and Afrobeats and rising international demand for Nigerian creative content.

Tinubu welcomed the Group’s decision to deepen its Nigerian operations, saying the country’s global cultural influence presented significant economic opportunities. He said greater localization would bring more production, investment, and jobs to Nigeria while strengthening its position in the global creative economy.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic development, job creation for young Nigerians, and increased investment in digitalization. He said the administration would continue supporting investments that expand the creative and digital economy, develop local talent, and strengthen infrastructure.

According to him, such investments would also position Nigeria as a base for businesses serving Africa and the wider global market. Tinubu said the Renewed Hope Agenda was focused on creating an economy where Nigerian talent, enterprise, and cultural reach generate greater opportunities. He said the ultimate objective was to improve livelihoods while ensuring Nigerians derived greater economic value from the country’s growing global cultural influence.
