Abuja:TracTrac Mechanisation Services has introduced a Mechanisation Investment Facility aimed at deploying 250,000 tractors and enhancing the capacity of 500,000 Mechanisation Service Providers (MSPs) in Nigeria. The initiative also plans to stimulate the creation of 10 agricultural equipment assembly plants within the country.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the facility was announced during the TracTrac Mechanisation Investment Roadshow held on Wednesday in Abuja. Mr. Godson Ohuruogu, CEO of TracTrac, explained that the financing platform is intended to boost investment in Nigeria’s agricultural mechanisation sector and improve access to equipment and services over the next five years.
Ohuruogu highlighted the significant machinery gap in Nigeria‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¾¢s agricultural sector, noting that the country has only about seven tractors per 100 square kilometers of farmland, compared to 35 in Kenya and a global standard of 195. He emphasized the need for expanding access to appropriate machinery and sustainable financing to enhance agricultural productivity and food systems in Nigeria.
He remarked that the roadshow is a continuation of stakeholder discussions held over the past two months, building on the Improving Smallholder Farmers’ Access to Small-Scale Agricultural Mechanisation Services (ISSAM) programme, a Mastercard Foundation initiative implemented by TracTrac. The company has also partnered with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to organize the 2026 National Agricultural Mechanisation Policy Dialogue.
The investment roadshow aimed to bring together capital providers and ecosystem actors to explore practical pathways for financing and scaling mechanisation across Nigeria. The facility is set to enable institutions to lend and invest directly in mechanisation businesses and enterprises.
Mrs. Jemimah Justus, Investment and Asset Management Lead at TracTrac, stated that the facility will open new avenues for financing, which have largely been unavailable through conventional lending. It will support mechanisation businesses in accessing capital to acquire equipment, expand operations, and contribute to Nigeria’s agricultural equipment value chain. The facility will leverage TracTrac’s data, digital monitoring systems, and risk-sharing mechanisms, aiding service providers, cooperatives, equipment owners, and agribusinesses in accessing financing.
