Post: NRM Launches Presidential Campaign Council and Six-Pillar Agenda for 2027 Elections

Abuja:The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has formally inaugurated a 38-member Presidential Campaign Council for the upcoming 2027 general elections, with Muhammad Garba appointed as the Director-General.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, this inauguration was performed by NRM National Chairman, Prince Chinedu Obi, who highlighted the event as a crucial step toward proving that ‘Nigeria can work again’ through necessary institutional reforms. He emphasized Nigeria’s potential, citing its youthful population, agricultural capabilities, and entrepreneurial spirit as key advantages for achieving sustainable growth.

The NRM’s policy framework, referred to as the ‘Esther Rescue Nigeria Agenda,’ is structured around six main pillars. These areas of focus include enhancing public-sector accountability, enforcing due process, improving transparency, and setting performance standards across government sectors. The agenda also prioritizes a productive economy and employment, quality education for technical competence, and accessible healthcare.

Additional pillars focus on security, justice, national cohesion, and advancing infrastructure such as power, transportation, and digital connectivity, all integrated with environmental sustainability. The agenda underscores the importance of developing a global knowledge economy through investments in science, technology, and vocational education.

Obi stated that the NRM administration would enforce zero tolerance for corruption and focus on inclusivity, emphasizing the significance of the presidential ticket comprising a woman and a younger professional. The selection of Dr. Esther Okereke as Presidential Candidate and Nasir Muhammed as Vice-Presidential Candidate aims to embody competence, integrity, and generational renewal.

NRM presidential candidate, Okereke, expressed the council’s mission as the ‘Rescue Team of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,’ addressing issues like insecurity, hunger, and unemployment. She underscored the importance of legality, transparency, and peaceful participation in their campaign efforts, advocating for a focus on structure and evidence over noise.

Campaign council Director-General Garba called on Nigerians, particularly the youth, to prioritize the nation’s progress over partisan loyalty, urging them to actively participate in governance. He described the council’s mission as a collective commitment to the country’s unity and development, emphasizing the importance of placing Nigeria’s future and well-being at the forefront of political decisions.
