Abuja:The life and legacy of Mr. Peter Onwubuariri were honored at a Night of Tribute organized by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council. Onwubuariri, who served as an Assistant Director with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), passed away following an illness.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Venerable Dallimore Odigie, Assistant Priest at St. Matthew Anglican Church in Abuja, used the occasion to call for spiritual reflection and preparation for eternity. Odigie highlighted that Onwubuariri’s life serves as a reminder of the limitations of earthly possessions and achievements in satisfying humanity’s eternal longing.
Onwubuariri’s positive disposition and knowledge of Scripture reflected a strong relationship with God, Odigie noted. He urged the attendees to consider the legacy they would leave behind and reminded them of the inevitability of death. Onwubuariri’s life, as described by Odigie, demonstrated that true consistency is found only in God.
Mr. Oche Egwa, Deputy Director at the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, praised Onwubuariri’s brilliance, diligence, and commitment. Egwa reminisced about Onwubuariri’s career, which began at NAN as a youth corps member and included roles such as the North American Correspondent. Despite his illness, Onwubuariri continued his work with dedication, even writing press releases from his hospital bed.
