Awka:Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has implemented digital clearance and certificate systems aimed at reducing delays in the graduation process for students, as announced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bond Anyaehie.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Prof. Anyaehie made this announcement in Abuja during the 2026 International Convention of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association. The theme of the event was ‘Innovation, Integrity and Inclusion: Rekindling the Zik Vision for a New Era.’
The new digital clearance system allows graduating students to complete the process from anywhere in the world, with approvals promised within five days. This initiative seeks to address the delays commonly associated with manual clearance procedures.
In addition to the clearance system, the university has introduced a system to automatically generate provisional certificates upon completion of clearance. These certificates will include barcodes, enabling employers and institutions to easily authenticate them. Once clearance is finished, students can download these certificates online.
Further, UNIZIK has digitized its transcript processing system to expedite this service. Staff involved in transcript processing have been encouraged to prevent unnecessary delays for students and graduates.
Prof. Anyaehie also detailed plans to enhance classroom facilities, ensuring lectures are conducted in adequately equipped environments. The administration is focused on improving the university in collaboration with alumni and other partners.
He acknowledged the vital role of alumni chapters and partners in supporting the university’s projects and overcoming challenges. Prof. Anyaehie emphasized that the collective efforts and resources of the university community are key to its growth and alignment with its prestigious name.
