Post: Veritas Kapital Assurance Shareholders Elect Babatunde Irukera as Board Chairman


Abuja: Shareholders of Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc have elected the former Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Babatunde Irukera, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company. Irukera’s election was the result of a unanimous decision by the shareholders during the FCCPC’s 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Irukera addressed issues raised by the shareholders, assuring them that his leadership would treat all shareholders equally and fairly. On the topic of the insurance industry’s recapitalisation, Irukera mentioned that the initiative aims to make the industry more vibrant. He emphasized that the company would carefully examine the recapitalisation process to ensure that its shareholders are not disadvantaged.

Regarding dividend payments, Irukera assured shareholders of the new management’s commitment to ensuring the prompt payment of dividends. He stated that even before recapital
isation, the company had been actively working towards timely dividend distribution. “We are working up to the point that you will receive your dividends,” Irukera affirmed.

Earlier in the meeting, some shareholders praised the representation of women in the board and management of the company. They also requested the company to ensure the timely conduct of their AGM to enhance service delivery.
