Abuja: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, announced that over 50 projects have been inaugurated in the FCT since President Bola Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023. This announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of the Bwari Water Supply Network, which marked the 50th project, with President Bola Tinubu represented by the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike highlighted that all inaugurated projects are official, and he expressed plans to inaugurate an additional 10 projects before the 2027 election campaigns. He noted that all road projects in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council were completed and inaugurated in 2025, and he plans to inaugurate the 17-kilometer Bwari to Kubwa Road by the end of the year.
The minister emphasized that the purpose of governance is to improve people’s lives, which is being realized under Tinubu’s administration. He recalled Tinubu’s mandate during the Greater Abuja Water Project inauguration, which directed the extension of water supply projects to satellite towns.
FCT Minister for State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, remarked that the water projects are a significant milestone in executing Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to expand access to essential infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for FCT residents. She lauded Tinubu’s support for the capital’s development and praised Wike’s leadership in advancing infrastructure in underserved satellite towns.
Dr. Mahmoud described the project as the fulfillment of a promise, noting that access to clean water would improve public health, enhance livelihoods, and restore public confidence in the government.
Earlier, Mr. Richard Dauda, acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, stated that the project to expand water supply in Bwari was awarded in August 2025. The project aims to improve access to potable water for FCT residents, complementing the Greater Abuja Water Project. It includes upgrading and expanding the reservoir system and distribution capacity to serve areas like Ushafa, Aji, Zuma, Gaba, and Kuchiko.
