Janakpur: Nepali Congress Madhes province parliamentary party leader, Krishna Prasad Yadav, has announced that the party intends to file a case at the Supreme Court, challenging the legality of the appointment process of the new Chief Minister.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Yadav made this statement during a brief interaction with media personnel at a protest program organized following the appointment of CPN UML Madhes province parliamentary party leader, Saroj Kumar Yadav, as Chief Minister earlier today. Yadav emphasized that the party is preparing to approach the Supreme Court seeking a legal remedy.
He revealed that the court move would be supported by the signatures of 74 Province Assembly members, excluding those from UML. This legal action follows the resignation of Jitendra Prasad Sonal, leader of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, from the Chief Minister position due to an unfavorable environment for securing a vote of confidence.
A coalition of seven political parties, including the Nepali Congress, is gearing up for a legal confrontation after Madhes Province Chief Sumitra Bhandari’s appointment of UML leader Yadav as Chief Minister early Monday morning.
