Post: Yaba College of Technology Celebrates Alumni’s Legacy Project


Lagos:The Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) has praised its 1986 Accountancy class for renovating and donating a legacy project to the institution.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the commendation was given by the Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, at the 40th anniversary celebration and legacy project handover ceremony held by the class in Lagos. The project involved the renovation of the old School of Management and Business Studies building, led by Mrs. Itunu Omotayo.

Abdul highlighted the class’s return to the college after 40 years to contribute back to their alma mater, emphasizing that their investment would benefit future generations of students. He noted that the gesture reflected the alumni’s dedication to service and ongoing connection with the college.

The rector expressed hope that the refurbished facilities would continue to be centers of excellence and represent the achievements possible through collective efforts. He underscored the college’s focus on specialized training in finance and r
elated disciplines, as well as management education, entrepreneurship, and business leadership.

Mr. Funsho Afolabi, Chairman of the Yabatech Governing Council, called upon other alumni and friends of the college to support its development, stressing the need for better facilities, mentorship, and exposure for students. He encouraged the institution’s community to uphold and maintain the newly provided facilities.

Mrs. Itunu Omotayo stated that the project was initiated after alumni visits revealed urgent rehabilitation needs, particularly concerning deteriorated flooring affecting student movement during rainy seasons. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give back to the college and urged the maintenance of the renovated building, which would serve as the School of Financial Studies.

Omotayo thanked everyone who contributed to making the project a success on behalf of the 1986 Accountancy class.
