Accra:Members of various ethnic nationalities gathered in Benin, the capital city of Edo, to show support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027 through a road walk.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the march began at King Square, proceeded through Mission Road, and concluded at the Ministry of Education. Participants urged local residents to back Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the upcoming general elections.
Anayochukwu Oli, Commissioner for Inter-Ethnic Relations in Edo and coordinator of the event, expressed the group’s dedication to securing 2.5 million votes for Tinubu. He voiced confidence in the APC’s ability to win various elective positions in Edo by significant margins.
Oli emphasized the importance of educating residents about what he described as Tinubu’s administrative achievements and the necessity of his re-election to continue his developmental agenda. He highlighted Tinubu’s reforms aimed at economic growth and stability and praised the
president’s education policy, notably the student loan scheme providing interest-free loans to students.
Elder Pius Iyamu, President of Niger Delta Indigenes in Edo, stated that the event was part of efforts to mobilize support for Tinubu’s re-election. He announced plans for door-to-door campaigns to garner further support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Moshood Kolawole, representing the Yoruba ethnic group, reiterated their support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, emphasizing the president’s focus on growth and development. Victoria Okechukwu, an APC Igbo Woman Leader in Edo, highlighted the high turnout for the road walk as a demonstration of commitment to securing votes for Tinubu in 2027, assuring that the promised 2.5 million votes would be delivered.
