In the spirit of Christmas, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Ebonyi state, South-east Nigeria, Dr. Edward Nkwegu, has celebrated with the physically challenged persons, the less privileged and the downtrodden in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Dr. Nkwegu organized the celebration to give them a sense of belonging and provide succour.
“The Labour Party are people of ideas that transcend ethnic and political party to put smiles on the faces of Ebonyi people and Nigeria at large.
“We have one objective of rescuing Nigeria to become a place for tolerance for one another, and there will be employment and empowerment for all.
“You are physically challenged but not disabled because your brain is working well. And you can do better in the society since your brain is functioning well,” said Nkwegu.
The chairman of the physically challenged in the state, Comrade Egede Silas, thanked the Labour Party for identifying with them.
He urged the candidate to help in protecting them, more especially in the areas where their rights are trampled on.
Areas of Emergency
“There is unemployment emergency, health and spiritual emergency as well as security emergency in the state and we are going to solve it.
“Even civil servants in the state don’t know their entitlements, and we are going to put smiles on the faces of the workers because Labour Party is their own.
“Everybody in Nigeria is suffering the bad leadership.
“It is not about Peter Obi and Edward Nkwegu but all about positive change,” he added.
Dr. Nkwegu’s running mate, Igwe Ajah Nwabueze, said Edward Nkwegu is known for industrial development and would do the same in Ebonyi state, if elected.
“The poverty in Ebonyi state has risen to 79%.
“We are contesting to move Nigeria from consumption country to production company.
“Labour Party will win in the 2023 general elections,” Nwabueze asserted.
The event witnessed the defection of over 3,000 persons from the Action Alliance (AA) and the People’s Democratic Party PDP to the Labour Party.
