Post: Zakat Foundation Inaugurates Board of Trustees, Unveils EasyZakat Digital Platform

Abuja: The Ummah Zakat Foundation is set to inaugurate its Board of Trustees (BOT) and unveil its EasyZakat digital platform on Thursday, as disclosed in a statement by the group. The event will take place at the auditorium of the National Mosque in Abuja, with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Saad Abubakar, attending as the Special Guest of Honour.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the foundation was established as a faith-inspired, non-profit platform aimed at harnessing Zakat, Sadaqah, and other forms of Islamic philanthropy to reduce poverty, improve livelihoods, and support vulnerable members of society. The foundation seeks to strengthen the administration of Zakat through transparency, accountability, compliance with Sharia (Islamic law), and the responsible use of technology.

The EasyZakat platform is a web and mobile application designed to facilitate the calculation, payment, collection, tracking, and distribution of Zakat. The platform aims to enhance transparency and accountability in these processes. It connects givers, beneficiaries, administrators, and relevant institutions through a secure digital interface, limiting manual handling and reducing the risk of interferences or manipulation.

The EasyZakat platform provides digital records, beneficiary validation, auditable transaction trails, and real-time tracking of contributions from givers to intended beneficiaries. It is not only a payment channel but also an accountability mechanism, enabling givers to monitor their contributions, recall their giving history, view their dashboard, and obtain extractable records when needed. This is expected to strengthen donor confidence and ensure that every contribution can be transparently traced and responsibly accounted for.

The inauguration of the BOT and the unveiling of the EasyZakat platform represent a significant milestone in building a credible, technology-driven, and impactful institution dedicated to Islamic social finance, social justice, poverty reduction, and inclusive community development across Nigeria.
