Rivers: The Chairman of South South Development Commission, Mr Chibudom Nwuche, has urged politicians who profess support for President Bola Tinubu to ensure his re-election for a second term in their respective states in 2027. Nwuche provided this advice during a ‘thank you’ visit to Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers, alongside Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Nwuche emphasized the importance of local politics and advised politicians from other states to refrain from interfering in the political affairs of Rivers State. He highlighted the unique political landscape of Rivers, suggesting that outsiders may not fully grasp its dynamics.
“We are a political family,” Nwuche stated. “When a leader chooses a candidate, the least we can do is show gratitude and work collectively as a team.” He acknowledged Wike’s efforts in mobilizing Rivers residents to support Tinubu for president and Siminalayi Fubara for governor during the 2023 general elections, describing Tinubu’s selection as beneficial.
However, Nwuche expressed disappointment in the choice of Fubara, noting that many stakeholders were unfamiliar with him but followed Wike’s directives in the state’s interest. He praised Wike for completing more than 22 projects in the area, asserting that no previous governor had matched Wike’s accomplishments since 1999.
Wike explained that his visit aimed to thank the people for their support in electing Tinubu in 2023 and to encourage continued support for the upcoming 2027 elections.
