Keffi: The newly elected members of the Fifth Northern Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) have pledged to support security agencies to eliminate banditry and other security challenges ravaging the region.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the election was held in Keffi, Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The elected members include Speaker Malam Faruq Dangi, Deputy Speaker Itodo Godswill, Clerk of the Assembly Faisal Maiha, Minority Whip Aminu Onipe, and Deputy Minority Leader Afolabi Godwin. Additional members are Majority Leader Okiti Emmanuel, Deputy Clerk Muhammad Nuru-Isah, and Public Relations Officer James Jako, among others.

In his acceptance speech, Speaker Dangi, who hails from Katsina State, expressed the readiness of the northern youth to partner with security agencies on intelligence gathering. This initiative aims to end insurgency in the North-East and curb all forms of criminality in the 19 northern states and across the country. He commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its efforts to rid the country of insecurity and improve the nation’s economy.

Dangi emphasized that the victory was a collective decision by the youth of Northern Nigeria to unite with one voice, vision, and future. He accepted the mandate with humility, responsibility, and a commitment to serve.

He highlighted the need for the new assembly to stand as a true parliament of Northern Youth, united by purpose, justice, and shared destiny, rather than divided by ethnicity, religion, or political interest. Dangi pledged to amplify the voices of young people, engage with government and stakeholders constructively, and lead a transparent and accountable speaker’s office.

Earlier, outgoing speaker Malam Ibrahim Mohammed-Lawal praised President Tinubu for his commitment to addressing security challenges in the Northern region. He also recognized Gov.
