Cairo: President Xi Jinping of China has proposed a four-point framework for establishing a new security architecture in the Middle East, focusing on common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security. Xi presented this proposal during discussions with Egyptian President Abdel El-Sisi in Cairo.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Xi emphasized the importance of regional countries taking charge of their own affairs, rejecting external interference, and enhancing dialogue on peace and security. He suggested exploring a new regional security architecture and strengthening the internal driving force for common security.
Xi highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach to resolving the region’s interconnected conflicts, identifying the Palestinian issue as central to the Middle East question. He stressed that lasting peace and stability are fundamentally dependent on development and called for stronger development cooperation to address the root causes of conflicts.
China expressed its readiness to collaborate with Middle Eastern countries to safeguard international shipping lanes, promote development cooperation, strengthen mutual interests, and gradually build mutual trust. Xi also advocated for stronger international coordination, with the UN Charter and international law serving as guiding principles for addressing Middle East affairs.
He urged the international community, particularly external powers, to abandon double standards, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional countries, and support the UN’s role in Middle East affairs. Egyptian President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for China’s consistent, objective, and impartial stance on the Middle East. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to de-escalation and resolving conflicts through political means.
El-Sisi indicated Egypt’s readiness to enhance coordination with China to ease regional tensions, safeguard stability, and explore a regional security architecture.
