Obajana: The Nigeria Police Force say the Dangote Cement Plc’s social intervention schemes have boosted security, promoted peace, and supported economic development across the country. This is coming on the heel of the two institutions’ collaboration towards safeguarding communities, protecting critical business operations, and creating a more secure environment for sustainable growth and investment.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, AIG Abubakar Zubairu, in charge of Zone 8, disclosed this during his visit to the Dangote Cement Plant at Obajana. He noted that such collaborations would enhance law enforcement efforts and create a stable environment where businesses can thrive, contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic growth. He stated that the country owes Dangote Cement gratitude for its numerous social intervention programmes, which have uplifted communities and supported national development.
Zubairu emphasized the Police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property while ensuring the protection of corporate institutions vital to Nigeria’s economic growth and social stability. He expressed his admiration for Dangote Cement’s Corporate Social Responsibility schemes, acknowledging the company’s significant financial contributions to these initiatives. He assured continued support from the Police, recognizing the company’s role in job creation and crime reduction.
Nawabuddin Azad, Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc, expressed elation at the visit from the Police’s top hierarchy, underscoring the importance of strengthening the partnership. He highlighted that the company’s mission aligns with the Federal Government’s goals of economic growth, job creation, and GDP contribution. Azad stressed the crucial role of security in ensuring production and prosperity and urged for stronger partnerships in intelligence sharing, empowering local divisions, and fostering trust between the Police, host communities, and the company.
Ademola Adeyemi, General Manager of Social Performance, noted the robust partnership between the company and the Police. Azeez Adeniyi, Head of Human Resources and Administration, mentioned that most company employees hail from Kogi State, emphasizing efforts to maintain smooth operations.
The AIG’s entourage included DCP A. Eljamal, DCP Abubakar B. Ardo, ACP Umar Ibrahim Wurno, CSP Halidu Kasimu, CSP Emmanuel P. Ganya, and CSP Ujah I. Francis, among others. In 2018, the Aliko Dangote Foundation donated 150 operational vehicles to the Police in Abuja, with a recent contribution of an additional 25 vehicles, marking Dangote Cement as one of the largest corporate donors to the Nigeria Police in the nation’s history.
