Abuja: After more than a year of shooting, the 8-episode humanistic exploration documentary series Qinling Home, jointly produced by the Film, Television and Documentary Center of China Media Group and Xi’an Broadcasting Station (Group), will be broadcast on CCTV-9 at 19:27 every night from July 13 to 20 and available on China Media Group Mobile at 12:00 noon. According to News Agency of Nigeria, the series seeks to convey the importance of the Qinling Mountains, not just as a physical landscape but as a crucial ecological security barrier, a repository of cultural heritage, and a spiritual haven for the Chinese nation.
The documentary is aptly titled Qinling Home to emphasize the mountains as an ecological sanctuary, a cultural repository, and a spiritual refuge. The producers strive to depict the interplay between humans and nature, the integration of landscapes with daily life, and the connection between historical and contemporary narratives. Unlike traditional documentaries, Qinling Home adopts a visitor’s perspective, using the stories of ordinary people to paint a comprehensive picture of the majestic Qinling Mountains.
The series comprises eight 25-minute episodes, each centered on distinct themes such as ‘Evergreen Mountains’, ‘Water Nourishing North and South’, and ‘Living Beings in Late Autumn’. Six cultural scholars, including Wang Xuebin, Liu Yapeng, and Yu Xiaofeng, serve as visitors, offering immersive insights into the natural, cultural, and historical facets of the Qinling Mountains and Xi’an. Through their explorations, viewers are offered a vivid portrayal of the symbiotic relationship between the Qinling Mountains and the people of Xi’an, a connection that has endured for millennia.
To capture the stunning landscapes of the Qinling Mountains across different seasons, the production team stationed themselves in the Central Shaanxi Plain, extending their coverage across the vast terrain from east to west, north to south. This geographical expanse is rich with valleys, trails, and diverse cultures, all of which are intricately woven into the narrative of the documentary.
The six visitors ventured into districts such as Lantian, Lintong, and Baqiao, documenting the lives of local residents and interpreting their experiences through touching stories. The documentary series aspires to evoke an appreciation and affection for the Qinling Mountains, encapsulating the profound bond between the people and their environment through personal stories and evocative imagery.
