Lagos: A Lagos-based political forum, the Progressives Group, has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027 to consolidate on what it calls the gains of his administration. The group also congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for national and state legislative positions.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the group’s National Chairman, Mr. Ajiyon-Shakirudeen Wusu, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos. The statement was jointly signed by Wusu, the group’s National Secretary, Mr. Shola Omolola, and the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Samson Adewale. Wusu stated that the Tinubu administration had spent its first term laying the foundation for sustainable national growth through reforms and institutional restructuring.

e already setting the stage for long-term growth. Wusu expressed that the second term will be more impactful as the dividends of these reforms become visible to all Nigerians.
The chairman also called on Nigerians to support efforts aimed at improving security across the country, emphasizing that security should be a collective responsibility of all citizens. Wusu urged APC leaders and members to intensify grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections and encouraged party structures to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Wusu further called for cooperation among the three arms of government in advancing national development. He urged the National Assembly and the Judiciary to continue supporting democratic governance and institutional stability, highlighting the importance of unity among government arms in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda to Nigerians.
Congratulating APC candidates elected during
the recent primaries, Wusu appealed to unsuccessful aspirants to remain committed to the APC. He congratulated Lagos Deputy Governor and 2027 APC gubernatorial candidate Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his running mate, Mrs. Damilola Sonayon-James, on their emergence. Applauding the choice of Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro as the Director-General of the Hamzat/Sonayon-James Governorship Campaign, Wusu called for sustained support for the party to ensure continuity in governance and development programs.
