Abuja: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to either accept or reject these offers until September 30. This update was revealed in a statement by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Board had initially set August 31 as the deadline for candidates with pending admission offers to make their decision. Dr. Benjamin emphasized that this extension is the final opportunity for affected candidates, including those with regular or Centralised University International Admission (CUIIA) offers, to take necessary action before the new deadline expires.
Candidates who have not yet accepted or rejected their admission offers are urged to do so promptly. Dr. Benjamin warned that failing to take action before September 30 could have consequences for the status of these admissions. He stated that candidates who accept their offers will be able to print and obtain their admission letters, while those rejecting their offers will have their status reverted to ‘Not Admitted’, enabling JAMB to update its records accurately.
Dr. Benjamin also noted that candidates who are no longer at the institutions where their previous admissions were offered could accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for necessary corrections or deletions. This process will assist the board in updating the candidates’ admission status and records appropriately. He also advised those currently pursuing a second degree with an unaccepted previous offer to reject the old offer and continue with their current programs.
Additionally, candidates who were admitted in the 2026 admission exercise but still have previous offers pending should not worry. Rejecting the earlier offers will not impact their 2026 admissions. Dr. Benjamin assured that the deadline extension aims to give candidates a final chance to decide on their outstanding offers and help the board maintain accurate national admission records.
At the conclusion of the deadline, any outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have not been accepted or rejected will automatically be marked as ‘Not Admitted’ in JAMB’s records. Dr. Benjamin urged all affected candidates to act immediately to avoid invalidating their admission offers.
