Post: Katsina and Save the Children International Deliver 5,600 Learning Kits to Adolescents


Katsina: Save the Children International (SCI) Nigeria, with support from the Cuppy Foundation, has distributed 5,600 learning kits to vulnerable adolescents in Katsina State.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents, boost school attendance, and enhance learning outcomes for children in the region.

The Commissioner, represented by Kabir Dodo, the Director of Schools (Junior), highlighted that the beneficiaries received school bags, exercise books, biros, and other essential items. He praised Save the Children, the Cuppy Foundation, and other development partners for their commitment to supporting education in the state. The initiative aligns with Gov. Dikko Radda’s administration’s goal to offer inclusive and quality education through strategic partnerships.

Jibia also acknowledged the involvement of 10 schools, including GJSS Fago, GJSS Sandamu, and GJSS Kwasarawa, among others. Bishir Salisu, the Principal of Government Day Junior Secondary S
chool, Fago, confirmed that the school bags had been effectively distributed across the beneficiary schools in Sandamu. He also mentioned SCI’s ongoing educational programs, such as Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL), Reading Club, and Safe Space, which aim to improve students’ learning and well-being.

SCI Education Officer, Abubakar Sadiq-Fema, revealed that the learners’ kits were sponsored by the Cuppy Foundation with the support of philanthropist Femi Otedola. The project initially began in Rimi Local Government Area in 2019 and has since expanded to Sandamu, with plans to continue until 2031. Representatives from the Sandamu Local Government Education Authority, the traditional institution, and the School-Based Management Committee expressed their appreciation for the initiative and pledged ongoing support.
