Post: Lagos APC Aspirant Pledges to Enhance Youth Digital Skills and Grassroots Sports

Lagos: Mr Segun Tomori, the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency in Lagos State, has pledged to push for youth empowerment through digital skills and promote grassroots sports. Tomori made the commitment on Monday in Abuja while declaring his interest to contest for the House of Representatives in the 2027 elections.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Tomori stated that the three core values of Service, Excellence, and Trust (SET) form the theme of his campaign, with his manifesto anchored on eight pillars aimed at achieving purposeful legislation. He emphasized that these principles have defined his journey in both public and private sectors and are reflected in the SET Campaign, derived from the acronym of his name, Segun Tomori.

Tomori outlined the eight pillars of his manifesto, which include Community Health Outreach, Support for Women and Vulnerable Families, Generation Next – Youth and Sports Talent Development, and Education and Schools Intervention Programme. Additional pillars are Light Up Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Skills Building Initiative, Open Door Leadership and Accessibility with Constituents and Stakeholders, and networking for constituency visibility.

Under the ‘Generation Next’ initiative, Tomori aims to provide mentorship and practical in-demand skills to youths to improve their job prospects if he emerges as the APC candidate and wins the election. The initiative will involve strategic partnerships with companies and youth consulting firms for training, career guidance, and potential employment pathways. Additionally, annual sports tournaments will be organized, allowing foreign scouts to identify and train talented individuals for potential careers in sports.

Tomori also highlighted his priorities of electricity and solar power solutions, back-to-school initiatives to encourage enrolment and retention, and improving learning conditions in public schools. He emphasized that the success of his vision will rely on the collective effort and support of the people, aiming to improve the welfare of his constituency and contribute to national development.

He expressed his readiness to bring dynamism, fresh ideas, and a proven ability to build consensus and deliver results, complementing the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu. Tomori’s previous roles include serving as Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development from 2023 until his declaration to contest in the election. His experience also includes being the Team Lead at the Strategic Communication Directorate of the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council, Personal Assistant to the former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, and a member of the APC Screening Committee for APC Abuja Area Council.

Tomori holds a geology degree and a Master’s in Public Administration. He was also a candidate for the APC South West Zonal Youth Leader in 2018 and a councillorship candidate for Ailegun Ward, Ejigbo, in 2013/2014.
