Abuja: The Defence Properties Limited (DPL) says it is repositioning its operations for greater productivity, expanded real estate activities, and improved welfare of Armed Forces personnel. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of DPL, Maj.-Gen. Isaiah Allison, disclosed this in a statement issued by the company’s management on Friday in Abuja. Allison assumed office on July 10, 2026, succeeding Brig.-Gen. Sebhil Adeyemo, at a ceremony held at the company’s headquarters in Guzape, Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the new administration is focused on strengthening DPL’s operations and expanding its capacity to generate resources for effective administration and personnel welfare. The approach aims to ensure effective management of defence properties for the benefit of personnel of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force. ‘The development is in line with the strategic philosophy of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, anchored on greater jointness, sound administration and improved welfare. The philosophy seeks to strengthen the operational capacity of the Armed Forces while sustaining its core responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and prosperity,’ Allison stated.
Allison mentioned that DPL has commenced steps to translate the strategic priorities into practical initiatives capable of improving productivity and service delivery. The company’s maiden retreat, themed ‘Launching Out with Clarity and Focus,’ was part of efforts to provide clear direction for the new administration. Held from Aug. 14 to Aug. 16 at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja, the retreat enabled staff to review operations and identify strategies for improved performance. Staff development remains central to the administration’s strategy, with an emphasis on a motivated and professionally equipped workforce.
The administration plans to expand DPL’s real estate activities across the country to improve productivity and strengthen its contribution to personnel welfare. The company has commenced inspection of its facilities to assess their condition and identify opportunities for improved utilisation. DPL is also strengthening collaboration with sister companies under Defence Holdings Company Limited to promote efficiency and explore areas of mutual benefit. ‘Accordingly, DPL on Aug. 21 paid courtesy visits to Defence Farms/Agro-Allied Products Limited and Defence Engineering Services Limited. The visits provided an opportunity for the companies to identify areas of cooperation and strengthen synergy within the Defence Holdings Company Limited,’ Allison added.
The new administration remains focused on building a more productive and sustainable DPL capable of contributing to the welfare of Armed Forces personnel. The company’s long-term objective is to combine sound administration, business growth, and effective management of defence properties to deliver greater value to the Armed Forces.
