Abuja: A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mohammed Ndarani, has awarded scholarships to 11 students from Niger state in different universities. Ndarani gave the scholarship awards through his Mohammed Ndarani Humanitarian Foundation, when the Council of Students Union Government (SUG) Presidents, Niger State paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Friday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the learned silk said he had adopted the students as his children and promised to sponsor them up to degree level, with some up to postgraduate level. He noted that the foundation was a platform for him to give back to the society, making life meaningful for the less privileged at the grassroots and adding value to nation-building which he said was a collective responsibility.
Ndarani stated that education is key to some of the nation’s challenges and emphasized that, if given the required attention and funding, education would provide the way out of most of the country’s problems. “The goal is to assist struggling students in
the state and combat declining educational performance across the nation,” he added. His aim is to encourage people to acquire education by easing the financial burden on students and parents, and he believes these scholarships are designed to benefit humanity and advance human capital development which will help the state grow.
The senior lawyer, who has provided various forms of scholarships to students across the country, noted the need to continue impacting the lives of average Nigerians at the grassroots. This is why he is giving back to Nigerians through his foundation.
In his response, Chairman of the SUGs, Baba Shehu, popularly known as ABS, commended the senior lawyer for his efforts. Shehu noted the numerous humanitarian gestures by the Mohammed Ndarani Foundation and expressed delight with his philanthropic nature, urging him to maintain the tempo.
Shehu mentioned that the student union presidents from different schools in the Niger axis came together to present an Icon of Students Transformatio
n and Character Building to Ndarani for his efforts in sustainable socio-economic development of the society. They were overwhelmed with gratitude for the generosity that will empower and enable them to empower and uplift others across the country.
Shehu further noted that Ndarani had sponsored his immediate past president to study law in Newgate University, Minna, and also donated the sum of N100 million to Niger State students for scholarships, which prompted their visit. He expressed gratitude, saying, “Well, all I have to say is Alhamdulillah. What we came for was not what we met here. We only came to appreciate him for what he did for our colleague and he just did the same thing for us here now.”
The students promised not to let the SAN down in any capacity they find themselves in and pledged to remain good ambassadors of the state. They expressed their commitment to emulate the good character of their benefactor, acknowledging him as a father figure and vowing to work for humanity.
