Post: Reps Adopt Seven Public Petition Reports on Fraud, Salaries, Pensions, and PIA Violations


Abuja: The House of Representatives at plenary on Tuesday adopted reports on seven public petitions concerning issues such as alleged breach of trust, unlawful termination of employment, and violation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), among others. The reports were presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petition, Rep. Laori Kwamoti (PDP-Adamawa).

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Kwamoti stated that the petitions were referred to the committee by the house at various times and that a thorough investigation was conducted, involving all relevant stakeholders. The reports include a petition by Commit Technology and Consult Ltd against the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and PCL International Ltd concerning alleged fraudulent conduct and breach of a joint venture agreement. This was referred to the committee on August 27, 2025.

The reports also include a petition by 530 disengaged staff of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) against the authority for allegedly refusing to implement a
pproved payment of full miscellaneous benefits, 15 years of pension arrears, and enrollment of eligible staff. This petition was referred to the committee on February 20, 2025.

Furthermore, the reports include a petition by Lady Grace Ayoo against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for alleged career stagnation, referred on August 22, 2025. Another petition by U-Peters Associates and Consortium of Consultants against the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, concerns alleged non-payment of outstanding consultancy fees and was referred on April 27, 2025.

In addition, Kwamoti noted a petition by Barahatihi Nig. Enterprises Ltd against Fleet Street Investment Ltd regarding an alleged criminal breach of trust involving N3.8 billion, referred on August 7, 2023. There is also a report on a petition by Nsisan-Obari Royal Palace Alesa Council of Chiefs against Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Ltd on alleged violation of PIA 2022, referred on April 27, 2024.

Lastly, a petition by City-Point Global Properties a
nd Investment Ltd against the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria involves the alleged non-release and disbursement of a loan sum of ?479,187,955.20 for developing 160 housing units along Bende Road, Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia, referred on September 3, 2024.

The Chairman of the public petition committee urged the house to receive and adopt the reports for immediate implementation by the relevant agencies.
