Abuja: Sen. Ned Nwoko (APC-Delta) has emphasized the importance of making politics an open platform for all, suggesting that political discussions, decisions, and processes should be transparent and accessible. Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, he stressed the need for political leaders to prioritize the nation’s greatness and think innovatively for the betterment of the people.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Nwoko, who serves as the Senate Committee Chairman on Reparations and Repatriation, shared insights into his political philosophy and legislative accomplishments over his two-year tenure in the senate. He highlighted his commitment to breaking down barriers in politics and promoting inclusive governance that benefits all Nigerians, particularly those in Delta North.
Nwoko detailed his sponsorship of 34 bills aimed at addressing the needs of Nigerians and fostering national development. These bills include the Constitutional Alteration for the Creation of Anioma State, the N
igerian Youth Entrepreneurship Grant Programme (Establishment) Bill, and the Waste Management and Malaria Eradication Agency (Establishment) Bill.
Among his legislative initiatives, he introduced the One-Month Rent Limitation and Landlord Registry Act to enhance fairness and transparency in housing, and the Cashless Asset Acquisition Act, which mandates cashless processing of high-value transactions to combat financial crimes.
Nwoko also sponsored bills like the Self-Defence and Firearm Ownership Regulation Act, the Coroners Systems (Re-Enactment) Act, 2023, and the ECOWAS Parliament Election Governance Act. His proposals extend to the Diaspora Voting Bill, the Parliamentary Governance System Act, and the Nigerian Defence Academy (Amendment) Bill, among others.
The senator outlined the potential impact of these legislative efforts, emphasizing their focus on governance, economic reform, youth empowerment, and regional development. His vision is for a reformed Nigeria where governance is effective and insti
tutions operate with integrity, ensuring that citizens from Delta North to the entire Federation benefit from meaningful representation.
