Lagos: The first Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Vincent Maduka, has urged the Nigerian Government to bolster digital technology in the country’s broadcast sector. Maduka emphasized the importance of training and re-training content creators to equip them with the necessary skills to compete effectively in the global media environment.
According to Voice of Nigeria, Maduka made these remarks during his 90th birthday celebration held at the Air Force Officers Mess in Victoria Island, Lagos, South West, Nigeria. He stressed the need for the federal government to focus on enhancing the competencies of individuals working in the digital sector, particularly those engaged in content creation.
Maduka praised Nigeria’s progress in embracing digital technology, acknowledging the country’s emergence as a significant hub in the global digital landscape. “Nigerians have joined the rest of the world to establish a digital economy. Many countries are coming to Nigeria to establish digital communities,” he stated.
He further appealed to the Federal Government to ensure easier access to digital technologies, making them more readily available to Nigerians in both urban and rural areas. Maduka encouraged the younger generation to leverage digital technology for career growth and urged the older generation to also engage with these advancements.
Reflecting on his broadcasting career, the veteran broadcast engineer touched on various aspects, including his career development, challenges, and achievements.
