Kano: No fewer than 1,000 members of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Kano State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors, who gathered at the Fine Time Events Centre in Kano, attributed their decision to the interventions by President Bola Tinubu and Senator Barau Jibrin.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the information was contained in a statement issued by Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity. Mudashir revealed that the group’s leader, Aminu Minjibir, expressed disappointment with the NNPP’s efforts in addressing the needs of the people of Kano State, despite their hard work for the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
Senator Jibrin, who welcomed the defectors, stated that their decision to join the APC was the best course of action. He remarked that the NNPP’s influence was declining and praised the defectors for choosing the APC, which he described as the largest party in Africa, noting its achievements in human development.
