Abuja: Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured that the political activities leading up to the 2027 general elections will not hinder his ability to deliver significant projects for residents of the FCT. Wike made this commitment during an inspection of ongoing projects in various parts of Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike emphasized his ability to manage both his ministerial responsibilities and political activities effectively, prioritizing service delivery to the people. He noted that while politics has its own time, his primary duty as the FCT Minister is to serve the community. Wike highlighted the importance of maintaining ongoing work by ensuring contractors are paid and projects are supervised regularly.
Wike stated, “I assure you, politics is not going to affect my work. The only way it will affect work is to make people happy by ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda is real and working.”
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of various projects, including the road linking Baze University, Body of Benchers, Nile University, and the Wupa Light Rail Station in the Idu Area of Abuja. He mentioned that this project is slated for completion in May and is expected to be inaugurated on the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu.
During the inspection, Wike also reviewed the construction of the Body of Benchers extension building, noting that the project was about 80 percent complete, with only landscaping remaining. Additionally, he inspected a 7km road project connecting Airport Road with Tunga Madaki and other communities, underscoring the FCTA’s commitment to linking these areas with other parts of the FCT. Wike directed the commencement of connecting the road with Zuba to enhance accessibility.
