Lagos:The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has announced plans to unveil the 2027 governorship election manifesto of its candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, on October 30. This announcement was made by Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, Director-General of the President Bola Tinubu-Kadri Hamzat Campaign Council, during a news conference at the campaign office in Ikeja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the manifesto launch will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, formerly known as the National Arts Theatre, in Iganmu. The event will highlight Hamzat’s vision and development priorities for Lagos, focusing on continuity, shared progress, and inclusive development to enhance the quality of life for residents.
The manifesto is set to address various critical sectors such as transportation, housing, infrastructure, healthcare, security, environmental management, and human capital development. Obanikoro emphasized that “continuity is not about doing things the same way simply because they have been done before,” but rather about building on successful initiatives, correcting areas in need of improvement, and developing new solutions to emerging challenges.
Lagos, with its growing population and cosmopolitan character, requires a development agenda that recognizes the diverse needs of its residents. The manifesto aims to promote equal opportunities regardless of gender, social status, background, or location, ensuring no community is left behind. Hamzat’s experience as a three-time commissioner and current Deputy Governor of Lagos State will guide his approach to consolidating existing projects and tackling new challenges.
The proposed agenda will prioritize economic growth, investment attraction, innovation, and the strengthening of public services. Consultations with various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, market women, traders, youths, and professionals, have informed the development priorities to ensure they meet the diverse needs of the population. The manifesto will be available for public download after its presentation to allow residents to examine and provide feedback.
The launch event will be broadcast live from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., with coverage on television and digital platforms. Party members and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the process, as the manifesto outlines the policy direction for Lagos State.
Mr. Seye Oladejo, Lagos APC spokesperson, highlighted the manifesto presentation as an opportunity to communicate the party’s development priorities ahead of the 2027 election. He stressed the importance of public participation in ensuring that the proposed policies address the needs and expectations of Lagos residents.
Attendees at the program included Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information and Strategy; Mr. Hakeem Bello, Deputy Director of the Communication and Information Directorate of the campaign council; and Mrs. Bola Akingbehin, Secretary, Communication and Information Directorate.
