Abuja:Brother Felix Adedokun, President of God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), Church of the Living God, has called on Christians to embody humility, obedience, love, faith, and forgiveness as true disciples of Jesus Christ. This appeal was made during his address at the GKS Abuja Zone ‘2026 Freedom Day Celebration’ held at the Daki Biyu Branch of the church in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Adedokun stressed that true discipleship requires more than just the outward profession of faith. He noted that while many globally identify as Christians, real transformation would occur if believers genuinely lived according to Christ’s teachings. His address, titled ‘Are We Disciples of Christ Indeed?’, was delivered by Brother Godfrey Odihili, an elder in GKS Gwagwalada.
Adedokun emphasized the importance of examining one’s life to ensure it reflects Christ’s teachings and virtues. He remarked that genuine discipleship involves practical obedience to Christ’s teachings and is not merely a matter of religious identification. He urged Christians to shun pride and arrogance and embrace humility, as exemplified by Jesus Christ. Additionally, he called on believers to avoid immorality and maintain unwavering faith in God.
Brother Kingsley Iriferi, Station Minister of GKS Abuja Zone, highlighted the significance of Christ’s birth, which the church commemorates in October. He advised Christians to emulate Christ’s humility and love. Iriferi cautioned religious leaders against aligning too closely with political figures and emphasized their role in guiding leaders to govern with integrity and truth.
In an interview, Brother Joshua Fregene, an elder of GKS Abuja Zone, advised religious leaders to lead by example, speaking truth and acting with love to foster societal development. Brother John Igweneme, Chairman of GKS Kubwa Branch, also emphasized the need for church leaders to adhere strictly to biblical truth and speak truth to power to combat corruption in Nigeria.
Sister Cindy Igba-Ujene, Chairperson of GKS Women Fellowship Nigeria and Abroad, encouraged women to contribute to nation-building by fostering godly homes. She stated that strong homes positively impact society, while broken homes can have detrimental effects.
