Abuja: The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sen. David Mark, has called on the party’s governorship candidates to avoid engaging in hate speech and making empty promises during their campaigns.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, this appeal was made during a consultation meeting held at the ADC headquarters in Abuja. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, issued a statement highlighting Mark’s emphasis on the importance of maintaining the integrity and credibility of the party by steering clear of unfulfilled promises. Mark stressed that the campaigns should mirror the kind of nation the party aspires to build, advising against the use of hate speech, ethnic or religious profiling, and violence.
Mark further encouraged the candidates to align themselves with the party’s governance and ethical principles as outlined in the ‘Orange Book’ and the party’s manifesto. The candidates expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to contest in the upcoming elections under the ADC banner. They were particularly pleased with the party’s focus on reducing the cost of living for Nigerians, notably through the reinstatement of fuel subsidies to lower petrol prices.
The candidates pledged their allegiance to the party and vowed to make it proud by securing victories in their respective elections.
