Abuja: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially commenced its nationwide membership mobilisation and registration exercise, aiming to enhance transparency and inclusiveness. The launch, held on Thursday, marks a significant step in the party’s efforts to expand its membership base ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, ADC National Chairman Sen. David Mark emphasized the immediate issuance of membership cards upon registration, ensuring confirmation for all members without any delays or conditions. He criticized other political parties for practices that restrict access to membership cards, pledging that ADC cards will be distributed directly to members without any favoritism or hidden agendas. Mark assured that the registration process would be conducted fairly across all states and wards, highlighting the party’s commitment to openness and equal political participation.
Committee Chairman Kashim Imam provided an overview of the exercise, stating that both online and manual registration options are available to ensure widespread participation. A robust website has been developed to handle the anticipated high traffic for online registration, capturing essential details and assigning unique identification numbers to members. Imam announced that 50,000 membership cards would initially be distributed to state committee chairmen, with each registration costing N500 and annual dues set at the same amount, totaling N1,000 per member.
Furthermore, Imam explained that the registration data from both methods would be harmonized to maintain a consistent and credible national membership database. The authenticity of membership cards is guaranteed by the signatures of the national chairman and national secretary. National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola urged for the creation of a membership register founded on integrity, warning against the inflation of membership figures with non-existent entries. He stressed the importance of a credible register where every entry corresponds to a real individual, reinforcing the party’s commitment to integrity and credibility.
