Ibadan: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State has declared its commitment to addressing hunger and poverty in both Nigeria and Oyo State. Mr. Bimpe Adelowo, the ADC’s Publicity Secretary in the state, shared this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Adelowo expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure the governorship and other elective positions in the state. He emphasized that citizens, dissatisfied with the performance of both the PDP and APC, are increasingly turning to ADC as a credible alternative. Adelowo highlighted the public’s desire for a government that prioritizes the needs of the masses rather than investing in non-essential projects.
He pointed out that many residents of Oyo State are eager to participate in the political process and contribute their ideas towards building a new system for Nigeria. Adelowo criticized the current government for its allocation of resources, particularly the expenditure on the Oyo@50 celebrations, which he argued did not benefit the citizens.
Adelowo argued that the funds used for events like aircraft shows and gala nights could have been better spent addressing the immediate needs of the populace. He acknowledged the significance of Oyo State reaching its 50th anniversary but advocated for celebrations that include humanitarian services, reflecting a more people-centered approach to governance.
