Abuja: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a new initiative called the ‘One ADC Movement’ aimed at mobilizing Nigerians nationwide to challenge and defeat the current ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the upcoming 2027 elections. The announcement was made during an event in Abuja, where the National Coordinator, Mrs. Lauretta Onuchie, highlighted the movement’s goal of uniting party members across the country.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Onuchie emphasized the movement’s intention to strengthen internal bonds within the ADC and promote reconciliation in areas of disagreement. She stressed the importance of collective action, stating that a united future holds more significance than individual ambitions. Onuchie urged party members and supporters to enhance the party’s unity, noting that internal division would not yield the desired outcomes.
She called on supporters to collaborate for meaningful results, acknowledging the current political climate in Nigeria where citizens are observing with hope, expectation, and sometimes concern. Onuchie addressed the critical question facing political parties: whether they can overcome internal divisions to truly serve the populace. She affirmed that the ‘One ADC Movement’ is built on the principle that unity is the utmost strength of any political entity.
The coordinator further depicted political parties as more than just election platforms, but as communities and families committed to building something greater collectively. She acknowledged that debates, contests, and disagreements are part of democracy, but what truly matters is the resolution following such moments.
Additionally, Mr. Umar Shuiabu, the Director of Mobilisation, stated that the movement would become increasingly visible nationwide and would work relentlessly towards the goal of defeating the APC in 2027.
