Abuja: The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, says addressing security challenges in Nigeria requires a holistic approach. The Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, stated this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. She quoted the minister as saying this when he received the General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, on a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Musa emphasized that the fight against insurgency, banditry, terrorism, and other forms of criminality requires a whole-of-society approach. He noted that the prayers and encouragement from religious bodies have continued to boost the morale of troops deployed in various theatres of operation nationwide.
The minister expressed appreciation to the cleric and members of the church for their sustained prayers and unwavering support for Nigeria’s security institutions. ‘The Armed Forces remain committed to defending the nation’s territorial integrity and safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians,’ he said.
Musa called on religious leaders across the country to continue promoting peace, unity, patriotism, and national cohesion. He noted that faith-based organisations have strategic roles to play in fostering harmony and supporting national security efforts.
