Abuja:The Africa Climate Forum has emphasized the need for a cohesive African stance in global climate discussions, highlighting the importance of partnerships to tackle the continent’s environmental and economic issues.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the forum’s convener, Prof. George Nwangwu, addressed attendees at the event’s fourth edition in Abuja, themed ‘Implementing in Lockstep Public-Private Action for Green Outcomes’. Nwangwu underscored the necessity for adequate climate finance, affordable technology, and robust partnerships to combat challenges such as flooding, drought, food insecurity, energy poverty, and environmental degradation across Africa.
Nwangwu urged various stakeholders, including governments, private investors, and development finance institutions, to collaborate in developing resilient infrastructure, renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable industries. The forum’s platforms, including policy dialogue and investment facilitation, aim to connect projects with investors and promote African solutions to climate change.
Dr. Oge Modie, Founder and Executive Chair of Avocado Holdings, also highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration to achieve measurable development outcomes from Africa’s climate commitments. Represented by Mrs. Chioma Ikenna-Ibeh, Modie called for clear policies and coordinated efforts to address energy reliability, food security, and economic opportunities, stressing the importance of strategic communication in policy implementation.
