Abuja: The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced that the Agricultural Mechanisation and Export of Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA) Expo 2026 will serve as a vital platform for connecting farmers, investors, researchers, and technology providers to stimulate economic growth. The ACCI President, Chief Emeka Obegolu, conveyed this during a press briefing on the upcoming event in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Chief Emeka Obegolu, represented by Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, the First Deputy President of ACCI, highlighted that the expo aims to promote mechanisation, value addition, and youth engagement in agriculture. He emphasized that agriculture is central to Nigeria’s economic transformation but requires a transition from traditional methods of production.
The ACCI president disclosed that the expo, themed ‘Technology and Investment for Agro-Export,’ is scheduled to take place in Abuja from October 15 to October 16, 2026. He stressed the necessity for greater adoption of mechanisation, innovation, technology, investment, research, and enhanced market linkages within the sector.
Chief Obegolu noted that the AGROMEQA Expo represents a unified effort to accelerate agricultural modernisation as a pathway to national prosperity. He stated that the initiative aims to promote mechanisation, value addition, technology transfer, and investment across the agricultural value chain. The president underscored that increased mechanisation and strategic investments have the potential to unlock agricultural capabilities and create decent employment opportunities for Nigerians.
Furthermore, Obegolu mentioned that stronger agricultural production systems would improve Nigeria’s competitiveness in regional and global export markets. The expo is expected to attract policymakers, agribusiness investors, machinery manufacturers, and technology providers, as well as research institutions, farmers’ associations, development partners, financial institutions, agro-processors, and exporters.
International organisations and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain will also participate, showcasing mechanised equipment, precision farming tools, irrigation systems, and climate-smart technologies. Innovations in agro-processing and packaging solutions will be featured to promote local value addition.
The expo will include technical discussions and interactive workshops providing opportunities for knowledge sharing and technology transfer. Business-to-business engagements and investment forums will facilitate capital mobilisation and strategic partnerships. A live demonstration arena will allow participants to witness modern agricultural equipment and technologies in action.
Chief Obegolu expressed confidence that the expo would catalyse investment inflows, strengthen business networks, and stimulate strategic collaborations, contributing to the development of a modern, mechanised, innovative, and globally competitive agricultural sector. He urged ministries, departments, and agencies, along with private-sector operators, development partners, and farmers’ groups, to actively participate in the event.
