Lagos: The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has taken a significant step towards enhancing the intellectual growth of its staff by organizing a quiz competition. This initiative is part of the assembly’s 3rd anniversary celebrations aimed at fostering efficient service delivery.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the competition took place in Uyo and was inaugurated by Dr. Nsidibe Akata, the Deputy Leader of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly. Dr. Akata, who also chairs the 3rd Anniversary Planning Committee, emphasized the importance of continuous learning, teamwork, and professional excellence within the legislative institution. He highlighted the critical roles played by the staff in strengthening the legislative process and sustaining the assembly’s effectiveness.
Dr. Akata encouraged participants to engage in the competition with confidence and integrity, stating that while prizes were up for grabs, the most significant reward was the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the institution. He expressed gratitude towards the assembly’s leadership and Governor Umo Eno for their support over the past three years, hoping that such initiatives would become a permanent feature in future legislative week celebrations.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Administration and Welfare department emerged victorious with 13 points, followed by the Legislative department with 11 points, and the Budget, Finance, and Supply department securing third place with nine points.
Mrs. Nsikak-Abasi Orok, the Clerk of the House, expressed her delight at the large turnout, noting that it demonstrated the staff’s passion for knowledge and learning. She emphasized that the competition served as a platform to strengthen teamwork and promote healthy intellectual engagement. Mrs. Orok highlighted that the initiative aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE agenda, focusing on education, human capital development, and institutional excellence.
By investing in the intellectual growth of its workforce, the assembly aims to build a more productive and people-oriented public service. Mrs. Orok thanked the planning committee and departmental heads for their dedication in ensuring the event’s success, reminding participants that embracing the opportunity to learn and grow makes everyone a winner.
