Abuja: Mr. Hocine Mezoued, the Ambassador of Algeria to Nigeria, announced the commencement of Air Algerie’s Algiers-Abuja flight, highlighting it as a strategic move to enhance bilateral relations between Algeria and Nigeria. The launch took place on Sunday in Abuja, marking a significant milestone for the Algerian national flag carrier.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ambassador Mezoued emphasized Algeria’s commitment to improving intra-African connectivity through its national airline, which boasts a fleet of 55 aircraft. Mr. Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, remarked that the development represents a vital step in the growing diplomatic and economic relationship between the two nations. Represented by Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Keyamo stressed the importance of air travel in economic development and encouraged Air Algerie to ensure that Nigerian passengers are treated with dignity and respect.

She highlighted the potential African market of 200,000 annual passengers, positioning Algiers Airport as a competitive transit hub linking West Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
