Abuja: The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, emphasized the necessity for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to uphold a high level of professionalism, readiness, and effectiveness in air power to combat terrorism within the nation. This assertion was made during the inaugural Nigerian Air Force Safety Review Board (SRB) meeting for the year 2026, held on Tuesday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Air Marshal Aneke highlighted that the SRB meeting was not merely about examining statistics and reports. Its primary focus was on critically analyzing underlying trends, identifying systemic deficiencies, and developing practical solutions to prevent future mishaps. Aneke elaborated that the meeting served as a vital platform for assessing safety performance, evaluating emerging risks, identifying improvement areas, and discussing strategic initiatives to enhance safety awareness in all NAF operations and activities.
While addressing the gathering, Aneke underscored the importance of integrating safety into the core processes of planning, decision-making, and execution to achieve operational success. He stressed that safety should be viewed as a critical enabler of operational effectiveness rather than just an obligation. Aneke further stated that all assets under their command, including aircraft, vehicles, equipment, facilities, and personnel, must be safeguarded through strict adherence to established safety standards and best practices.
